A good week after the new government of Albania was established, Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister Damian Gjiknuri, Director Janez Kopač and Deputy Director Dirk Buschle met today in Tirana to discuss the continuation of the country’s energy sector reform. Together with the Secretariat, the Government will take up the activities again to establish a power exchange and further open up the domestic market. This will include coupling with neighbouring markets in the framework of the Berlin/WB6 process.

Moreover, Albania is prepared to take a leading role in the Energy Community’s activities related to the integration of energy and climate policy.

Prime Minister Rama expressed full support for the ongoing process of strengthening the Energy Community by amending the Treaty.
