Forum outlines path to sustainable energy future for Energy Community Members, 12th June 2017 The first Sustainability Forum took place under the auspices of the Energy Community and the Balkan Green Foundation on 9 June 2017 in Vienna. Gathering over 120 stakeholders, the Forum provided a unique platform to discuss how the region can transition towards a sustainable energy pathway. Albanian Ministry of Energy receives another proposal for 2 MW-sized solar project, Emiliano Bellini, June 7, 2017   The 2 MW solar facility is planned to be installed in Lushnje, a municipality in west-central Albania. Albania’s Ministry of Energy and Industry has received an application for another MW-sized PV plant. The 2 MW project, which was submitted by the local company AEE sh.p.k., is planned to be located in the municipality of Lushnje, in west-central Albania. The project will require a 2 hectare surface and €1 million investment, the company said in its filing with the ministry. The construction of the hydropower is one of the largest HPPs over the last 30 years, completed with a dam, that will take place thought contract type B.O.T (Construction – Operation – Transfer), near the village Kalivac, along the downstream of the River Vjosa, from the quota 113 m.a.s.l. up to the quota 73 m.a.s.l. Currently, the electricity generation sector in Albania is 100% hydropower based. Financial support to strengthen deployment of solar power in SEE, Dr Lorenc Gordani, 10th June 2017 On 09 June, the EBRD and the Energy Community Secretariat have signed a Memorandum of Understanding strengthening the organisations’ cooperation in the field of sustainable development with a focus on sustainable energy policy development in the Western Balkans, Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia. The agreement, signed in Vienna, also allows the two institutions to explore new opportunities for cooperation on broader sustainability issues, including climate change. The sectors’ collective known contribution was about 4.1% of the revenue recorded in National Budget for 2015, however employee collectively less than 1% of total employee workforce registered in the country in 2015, based on AKBN statistics. Crude oil comprised about 59% of the total output from the extractive sector. About 89% of crude oil was extracted from Bankers Petroleum operating the Patos-Marineza oilfields. At 31 December 2014, Albpetrol held shares in five Production-Sharing Agreements (PSAs) with other companies operating the production of oil and gas. In addition, Albpetrol operated on its own wells located in Ballsh, Patos and Kucova. Albpetrol sells the oil received from PSAs (profit share) and extracted through its own oil field operations (equity oil) through open public auctions.
