Mining permits: Ministry open procedures for 15 sites, SCAN, 09/05/2017 The Ministry of Energy and Industry has opened for expressions of interest 15 new mining areas across Albania. All interested companies must submit bids at the Ministry, presenting the necessary documentation. For the 14 areas, bids must be submitted on the period 23-25 May and for the last one on June 1, 2017. But which are the free mining areas for which businesses can bid. The first is Kodra e Kojlikës, Durres area, which could be used for limestone. The second is Balgjaj, Diber, for search and discovery of chromium. Permit no. 738/7 includes Gjinaj area in Kukes, also for chromium. Western Balkan deserves thorough attention from energy utilities by Dr Lorenc Gordani on 10th May 2017 The Western Balkan countries represent among some of the most water-rich countries with regard to the amount of water available per person (10,600 m3/cap, which is twice the European average). Among several other water uses and purposes (e.g. agriculture, irrigation, tourism & recreation, water supply etc.), the potential energy of water in river systems is used for the production of electricity in hydro power plants (HPPs) of various types: reservoir, derivation, run-of-river and reversible HPPs.
