With the most recent signatories – three Hungarian stakeholders: the Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority, the Independent Transmission Operator MAVIR and the Power Exchange HUPX and the Italian Transmission System Operator Terna, the WB6 Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening regional electricity market integration now counts nine EU stakeholders from five neighbouring Member States.

The EU stakeholders will join forces with their Western Balkan 6 counterparts to cooperate on implementation of market coupling and cross-border balancing using the WB6 governance structures. With this latest expansion, the WB6 initiative became a genuine multi-stakeholder platform for electricity market integration in South Eastern Europe.
