Secretariat publishes policy guidelines on grid integration of prosumers  8 February 2018 Renewable energy technologies are transforming the way we produce and use energy. The share of distributed energy sources is rapidly increasing, thereby requiring all stakeholders to revisit the approach to network planning and operation of the electricity system. Due to increasing retail electricity prices and decreasing technology costs, distributed generation is becoming more and more attractive for consumers, which can now choose to produce part of the electricity for their own needs instead of purchasing it from a supplier. Moreover, self-consumption is an additional tool to meet renewable energy targets, reduce network losses and peak loads, increase energy efficiency, improve demand response and contribute to CO2 emissions reduction. Nevertheless, most countries lack comprehensive legislation in relation to small…

Increasing the sustainable use of biomass could bring significant benefits to the Western Balkans

Informacion
Increasing the sustainable use of biomass could bring significant benefits to the Western Balkans 7 February 2018 Increasing the sustainable and efficient use of biomass could enhance energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and local air pollution in the Western Balkans, whilst helping the countries to meet their 2020 renewable energy targets cost-effectively. Yet, significant financing needs to be mobilized to exploit the economic opportunities to increase biomass use and make existing use more efficient, concludes a study published by the World Bank in collaboration with the Energy Community Secretariat, and financed by the EU through the Western Balkans Investment Framework. The study on biomass-based heating in the Western Balkans identifies viable investment options and policy measures to increase the use of biomass for heating in a sustainable manner. A…

Fronius offers a new energy package with storage

Informacion
Fronius offers a new energy package with storage 2/8/18, 8:00 AM - In 2018 Fronius Solar Energy will be launching a new energy package including an inverter, the Fronius Checkbox and a storage unit from LG. Fronius Fronius is building a pilot system in which green hydrogen will be generated from solar energy. The Fronius Ohmpilot consumption regulator for hot water preparation is a first step into the Fronius world of storage units. This intelligent energy management solution uses surplus energy to activate and coordinate consumers such as heating elements, heat pumps or infra-red heaters. To make storing solar energy even easier, Fronius will be offering its energy package in combination with the LG Chem RESU 7H and LG Chem RESU 10H battery as of this spring. Already successfully established…
