EBRD to support Western Balkans regional economic integration at Trieste Summit By Anthony Williams, 7th June 2017 The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will throw its weight behind a push for greater regional economic integration in the Western Balkans during a summit of regional leaders in Trieste, Italy, on 12 July. The EBRD has long been a champion of Western Balkans integration, financing the development of transport and energy infrastructure links both within the region and with  neighbours. It remains committed to supporting key regional projects under the Western Balkans connectivity agenda, working closely together with the European Union (EU) and other International Financial Insitutions. The news was announced in a Facebook posting by TAP – Albania, which claims that 384km out of 765km have been welded so far. “50% TAP steel pipes in Greece and Albania now welded (384km out of 765km). Albania launches procedure for electricity import due to drought, Balkan Green Energy News, June 26, 2017 Albania has launched import procedure for 285,000 MW of electricity for over one month period. The procedure was launched to overcome domestic production’s shortages provoked by the drought. Albania’s Energy Power Distribution Operator (OSHEE) announced on June 23 that it had launched import procedures for 285,000 MW of electricity for the period from June 28 to July 31. As a reason it has stated “the loss of domestic output due to drought”, adding that around 53 percent of domestic power consumption will be covered by the imported electricity.
